The Courage Award

The Courage Award recognizes an activist or engaged scholar from the community where the annual meeting is located. Nominees will be individuals or organizations addressing issues of concern to LGBTQ communities. In recognition of the need for solidarity across marginalized groups, the award will prioritize those working to improve the lives of queer communities that are additionally marginalized through systems of racism, ableism, sexism, and/or transphobia. The award also recognizes that local community activism connects to the research and writing of caucus members, including but not limited to issues of sexuality, gender, race, development, inequality, migration, human rights, conflict resolution, violence and war, and global solidarity and justice.
