English School Junior Scholar Award [ENGSS - Paper]

To award the best paper presented at the ISA Annual Convention by a junior scholar (i.e. PhD or post-doc). The subject matter/theoretical approach of the paper must fall into the broad remit of the English School theory of international relations.

Recipient Criteria

  1. Recipients must be a current member of ISA.
  2. To be eligible for the award, the paper must have been presented at the most recent ISA Annual Convention.
  3. The subject matter/theoretical approach of the paper must fall into the broad remit of the English School theory of international relations.
  4. Eligible paper may be single- or multi-authored.

Prize

  • The recipient will receive a certificate, and one year membership to ISA with ENGSS dues.
  • The recipient will be announced at ISA Annual Convention.

Selection Process and Nominations

  • Nominations may be made by anyone in the profession. We encourage discussants and chairs on ENGSS (co-)sponsored panels to let us know about outstanding papers you encountered. Self-nominations are also welcome. Nominations should include contact information of the nominee and, in the case of self-nominations, also a copy of the relevant paper to be sent to engss@isanet.org A committee formed by the winners of the previous edition of the award will select the winning paper on the basis of contribution to English School theory, scholarly excellence and potential, and clarity of writing and argument.
