ISA Special Project Grants Proposals

ISA HQ receives a variety of proposals, outside the current ISA funding mechanisms, that ask for project support and make a financial request. During its 2017 meeting in Baltimore, the Governing Council renewed the special project grants program; proposals for funding are accepted from members and sections/regions/caucuses. The proposal deadline is November 1, 2017.

FLACSO Quito 2018: Call for Proposals

We're excited about our upcoming FLACSO-ISA Joint International Conference, scheduled for July 25th - 27th, 2018 in Quito, Ecuador. Paper, panel and roundtable submissions related to all areas of international studies and world politics are welcome, and especially those related to our theme "Power Reconfigurations: Regional and Global Responses in an Age of Uncertainty". The deadline to submit proposals is December 15, 2017

Invitation to Submit: Professional Resource Center

The Association is in the process of developing its Professional Resource Center (PRC) to better serve you. As part of this initiative, we would like to invite you to share syllabi, reading lists and/or class lesson plans that will be made available in the pedagogy area of our PRC. We are especially interested in receiving materials that are related to our ISA Sections, but welcome other International Studies materials as well (e.g. general introductory course syllabi). ISA is now accepting reservations for meetings, receptions, and non-panel events for the ISA 2018 convention. Deadline for submissions and catering orders is December 1, 2017. Career Courses

We are pleased to announce that the application process to take part in ISA's 2018 Career Courses opened September 21st. Career Course participation is on a first come, first served basis and is an elective "add on" during the 2018 Annual Convention registration process. These courses always elicit more interest than space available, so we encourage you to register for a course as soon as you are able. ISA Regions, Sections and affiliate groups are invited to host a workshop, business meeting or reception during the ISA 2018 Annual Convention. All events will be held at either Hilton San Francisco Union Square or the Parc 55. Meeting space is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone in need of reserving meeting room space or catering can now do so through our convention home page under the section "For Affiliates."

ISA-IO Call for Proposals - International Institutions and/in the Global South

The ISA International Organization section approved funds to support a Special Workshop on the topic of International Institutions and/in the Global South for the 2018 meeting in San Francisco. The workshop should focus not only on the relationship between international institutions and/in the Global South, but in its composition it should also balance the views from the various corners of the world that are being discussed.

The J. Ann Tickner Award recognizes someone who, in Tickners footsteps, consistently combines bravery in pursuing high-quality, pioneering scholarship that pushes the boundaries of the discipline with a deep commitment to service, especially teaching and mentoring.. The deadline for submission is October 13, 2017.

The Rosenau Award honors the scholar who has made the most important contributions to globalization studies. This award recognizes Rosenau's role as a pillar of the international studies community and leader in globalization research. The deadline for submission is October 15, 2017.

The Courage Award

The Courage Award recognizes an activist or engaged scholar from the community where the annual meeting is located. Nominees will be individuals or organizations addressing issues of concern to LGBTQ communities and sexual minorities globally, and that are the focus of the research and writing of caucus members, including but not limited to issues of sexuality, gender, and race, development, inequality, human rights, conflict resolution, violence and war, and global solidarity and justice. The nomination is October 25, 2017.

The LGBTQA Scholar Award

The LGBTQ Scholar Award recognizes individuals whose scholarship or teaching and mentoring serve as a model for the integration within international studies of subjects of concern to LGBTQ communities or those incorporating theoretical and empirical perspectives on sexuality and gender. Awards can be made for an individual paper or journal article, book or edited collection, or for distinguished service in teaching and mentoring within academia in general and ISA in particular. The nomination is October 25, 2017.

Foreign Policy Analysis Section

The Foreign Policy Analysis Section (FPA) seeks to foster the study of foreign policy making and foreign policy behavior. It equally welcomes the study of both specific states/regions and analyses with cross-national applicability. Relevant research is defined quite broadly in the Section to include such topics as domestic sources of foreign policy, political psychology of national decision-makers, the development and maintenance of decision regimes through bureaucratic and organizational means, the use of events data, and the use of systematic comparative case studies, among others.
