ISA Special Project Grants

Each year, the International Studies Association Headquarters receives a variety of proposals, outside the current ISA funding mechanisms, that ask for project support and make a financial request. During its 2017 meeting in Baltimore, the Governing Council renewed the special project grants program; proposals for funding are accepted from members and sections/regions/caucuses. The deadline to submit proposals is July 1, 2017.

ISA Research Workshop Grants

The International Studies Association announces the deadline for 2017 – 2018 grants to support workshops for collaborative research that is new and innovative and involves scholars who are drawn from the global international studies community. Workshops are no longer required to be held in conjunction with the ISA Annual Convention (to be held in San Francisco, California, April 4-7, 2018). They may be held at an alternate location or time, almost anywhere in the world. The deadline for Workshop Grant applications is June 30, 2017.

ISA-West 2017 accepting proposals!

The International Studies Association West region will hold our 2017 annual conference from September 22nd – 23rd, in Pasadena, California, USA. ISA-West invites paper, panel and roundtable proposals on any subject related to international studies, broadly defined. ISA-West continues to have paper awards and limited travel grants available to ISA members only. The deadline for paper/panel submissions is Monday, June 19, 2017.

The International Studies Association-Northeast invites proposals for papers, panels, and roundtables on any subjects related to international studies, broadly defined, for its annual meeting. The conference will be held November 3rd - 4th at the Hilton Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, USA. The deadline for paper and panel submissions for the ISA-Northeast conference is Monday, June 26, 2017.

The International Studies Association International Security Studies Section invites proposals for papers, panels, and roundtables on any subjects related to international studies, broadly defined, for its joint annual meeting with the International Security and Arms Control Section of APSA. The conference will be held October 13th - 14th at the School of International Service at American University, Washington, D.C., USA.The deadline for paper/panel submissions is Friday June 30, 2017.

The International Studies Association-Midwest invites proposals for papers, panels, and roundtables on any subjects related to international studies, broadly defined, for its annual meeting. The conference will be held November 17-19 at the Hilton at the Ballpark, St. Louis, Missouri, USA. The deadline for paper and panel submissions for the ISA-Midwest conference is Monday, July 3, 2017.

The conference will be held October 20th - 21st at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, Orlando, Florida, USA. The deadline for paper and panel submissions for the ISA-South conference is Friday, July 21.

FTGS Graduate Student Paper Award

This award, sponsored by Feminist Theory and Gender Studies (FTGS), was established in 1996 to honor the best feminist theory and/or gender studies graduate student paper presented at the current year’s ISA Annual Convention.The deadline for submission is June 17, 2017.

IPE Best Book Award

The International Political Economy Annual Best Book Award recognizes an outstanding monograph in the field of IPE published within the past two years. Nominated books will be evaluated on the basis of originality, significance, and rigor. The deadline for submission is June 30, 2017.

Global Health Section Best Early Investigator Paper Prize

As part of its mission to support the next generation of global health scholars, the Global Health Section of the International Studies Association has established an award to recognise the best paper presented at the previous year’s Annual Convention by a researcher in the early phase of her or his career. The deadline for submission is July 1, 2017.

Global Health Section Best Early Investigator Paper Prize

As part of its mission to support the next generation of global health scholars, the Global Health Section of the International Studies Association has established an award to recognize the best paper presented by a graduate student at the previous year’s Annual Convention. The prize intends to encourage and reward graduate student participation in the Convention, as well as recognize the excellent scholarship of many graduate students. The deadline for submission is July 1, 2017.

The Ethnicity, Nationalism and Migration Section (ENMISA) Distinguished Book Award Selection Committee invites nominations and submissions for the section's Distinguished Book Award competition. The deadline for submission is August 14, 2017.

The Diplomatic Studies Section (DPLST) of the International Studies Association (ISA) invites nominations for the inaugural Bertha Lutz Prize. The 2017 prize will be awarded at the 2018 ISA conference in San Francisco, CA. The deadline for submission is December 31, 2017.
