FLACSO Quito 2018: Call for Proposals

ISA is pleased to announce the FLACSO-ISA Joint International Conference 2018, Quito. The joint FLACSO-ISA Conference is scheduled for July 25th - 27th, 2018 at FLACSO-Ecuador in Quito. Paper, panel and roundtable submissions related to all areas of international studies and world politics are welcome.

The Publications Committee of the International Studies Association and the Executive Committee will make a recommendation to the ISA Governing Council regarding the assignment of editorial duties for International Studies Quarterly at the 2018 annual meeting in San Francisco. Proposals received no later than August 15, 2017 are assured most thorough consideration.

ISA Regions, Sections and affiliate groups are invited to host a workshop, business meeting or reception during the ISA 2018 Annual Convention. All events will be held at either Hilton San Francisco Union Square or the Parc 55. Meeting space is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone in need of reserving meeting room space or catering can now do so through our convention home page under the section "For Affiliates."

The International Studies Association-South invites proposals for papers, panels, and roundtables on any subjects related to international studies, broadly defined, for its annual meeting. The deadline for paper and panel submissions for the ISA-South conference is Friday, July 21.

Wrapping up Hong Kong

The recent Hong Kong conference was a great success, providing excellent forums for scholarly exchange, networking and cultural experiences. From the Lion Dance and Eye Dotting Ceremony at the opening plenary to the panels and roundtables and much more, the nearly 1000 attendees made the most of their time at and around Hong Kong University.

Karl Deutsch Award Award

The Karl Deutsch Award is presented annually to a scholar who is judged to have made (through a body of publications) the most significant contribution to the study of International Relations and Peace Research. The deadline for submission is August 1, 2017.

The Ethnicity, Nationalism and Migration Section (ENMISA) Distinguished Book Award Selection Committee invites nominations and submissions for the section's Distinguished Book Award competition. The deadline for submission is August 14, 2017.

ILAW Best Book Award

The International Law Section (ILAW) calls for nominations for the 2018 Award for Best Book in the field of international law. Eligible entries must have been published in calendar years 2016 or 2017. They may be single- or multi-authored. All authors must be ISA members at the time of award. Authors may self-nominate. The nomination deadline is September 1, 2017.

Bertha Lutz Prize

The Diplomatic Studies Section (DPLST) of the International Studies Association (ISA) invites nominations for the inaugural Bertha Lutz Prize. The 2017 prize will be awarded at the 2018 ISA conference in San Francisco, CA. The deadline for submission is December 31, 2017.

Diplomatic Studies Section

The purposes of the DSS are to promote the exchange of ideas among diplomaticists across both disciplinary and international boundaries; to build a feeling of scholarly community and create a lobby in favor of diplomatic studies; to facilitate networking among students of diplomacy and hence cooperation on joint projects; and to strengthen research and teaching in the field and attract talented new scholars to it.
