ISA’s Oxford Reference Encyclopedia of International Studies (OREIS) now available online

The Oxford Research Encyclopedia (ORE) of International Studies now makes all of the articles from the International Studies Encyclopedia available online, as part of its mission to revitalize this comprehensive reference work. Led by Renée Marlin-Bennett, the ORE of International Studies brings together substantive, peer-reviewed, and regularly updated articles from leading scholars in the field. You can now browse over 400 classic, revised, and new articles for free, ahead of the move to subscription in April 2018:

Convention Updates!

Upload Your ISA 2018 Paper!

We handle paper uploads directly through our website. You will find the option to upload your paper on your personal schedule page. Please note that we only accept PDF files and that they can be no more than 10mb in size. ISA policy requires a PDF copy of each paper presented at the Convention to be uploaded to the archive. This year, to give discussants, chairs, and fellow panelists time to read, we ask that participants upload papers by March 28, 2018.

Livestream Panels at #ISA2018!

As part of a new initiative, the Ad Hoc Committee on Virtual Engagement has sponsored several panels that will be live-streamed. If you're interested in participating, RSVP by March 15, 2018 to secure a spot. Please note, you must have an account in order to RSVP for this event but Convention registration is not required.

ISA is pleased to continue our partnership with Kiddie Corp at the 2018 Annual Convention in San Francisco, CA. Program services are available only to ISA members on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that some days are already full and there may be a waitlist.

WCIS Call for Nominations to the Executive Council

The Women’s Caucus (WCIS) invites nominations (and self-nominations) for FOUR open positions on the WCIS Executive Council.As you know, WCIS “is devoted to upgrading the status of women in the profession of international studies. WCIS seeks to promote equal opportunities for women in their professional lives, from graduate school admissions through all stages of employment. WCIS also seeks to promote women's professional development, both in academic and non-academic professional careers in international studies.” Please send your nominations to Saira Bano (WCIS Awards and Elections Coordinator) at by February 15, 2018.

Innovative Pedagogy Conference 2018

The first annual International Studies Association Innovative Pedagogy Conference (ISA-IPC) will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018, in St. Louis, MO, in conjunction with the ISA Midwest meeting. This new ISA initiative marks the beginning of a series of programs to be held in conjunction with regional conferences around the United States, and beyond.

Academic Freedom Committee

Created by ISA’s Governing Council in 2009 and first assembled in 2010, the Academic Freedom Committee (AFC) is charged with documenting instances where scholars in all disciplines related to international studies are persecuted for their peaceful, non-partisan, professional activities, particularly when engaged in activities related to scholarly research and teaching.
