ISA HQ Bids Farewell to Dr. Andrea K. Gerlak

As the ISA community knows, Dr. Andrea K. Gerlak has been a central figure around our Association for many years as a member, but also as a highly valued member of the headquarters staff since 2006. But now it is time for Andrea to move on to a faculty position as an Associate Professor in the School of Geography and Development at the University of Arizona starting this fall semester. So it is with much regret that ISA bids farewell to Andrea at HQ, but we wish her well in the coming years in this next phase of her professional and scholarly life.

Nominating Committee Report

After careful deliberation, the International Studies Association Nominating Committee (David Capie, Sabine Carey, Nanette Levinson, Galia Press-Barnathan, Norrin Ripsman, Kamal Sadiq, Hendrik Spruyt, Tricia Lynne Sullivan, Birol Yesilada) unanimously agreed on a single slate of candidates for ISA Officers:

  • President: Patrick James (University of Southern California)
  • Vice President: Havard Hegre (Upsalla University)
  • Vice President: Zaryab Iqbal (Pennsylvania State University)
  • Vice President: Edward Mansfield (University of Pennsylvania)
  • Treasurer: T. Clifton Morgan (Rice University)

We also selected nominees for at-large representatives (from outside the recognized ISA regions) to the governing council. Our charge is to forward five candidates for three at-large positions. We recommend the following candidates:

  • Kristin Bakke (University College London)
  • Arie Kacowicz (Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
  • Selcan M. Kaynak (Bogazici University)
  • Kanica Rakhra (Consultant, New Delhi, India)
  • Marcelo Valenca (Rio de Janeiro State University)

ISA HQ Introduces Dr. Kristy A. Belton

ISA HQ is very pleased to announce the arrival of our newest team member, Dr. Kristy A. Belton. Kristy received her PhD in 2014 in political science and was most recently a post-doctoral fellow in the Human Rights Center at the University of Dayton. Please join us in welcoming Kristy to ISA HQ!

ISA-Hong Kong 2017 - Call for Proposals

ISA is pleased to announce the ISA International Conference 2017, Hong Kong. The joint ISA-HKU Conference is scheduled for June 15th - 18th, 2017 at the Hong Kong University in Hong Kong. The deadline for proposal submissions is October 1, 2016.

Rosenau Post-Doctoral Fellowship

ISA invites applications from junior scholars for the James N. Rosenau Postdoctoral Fellowship. The competition is open to scholars in the social sciences and humanities who have received their Ph.D. within the past two years, that is, between July 1, 2015 and July 1, 2017. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2016.

ISR: Call for Applications

The Publications Committee of the International Studies Association along with the Association's Executive Committee will make a recommendation to the organization's Governing Council regarding the assignment of editorial duties for International Studies Review at the 2017 Annual Meeting in Baltimore. Applications should be received no later than September 15, 2016.

We received an overwhelming response to this coming meeting in Baltimore and the Program Team is currently hard at work crafting the Program (to be announced on September 16, 2016). In the meantime, don't forget that applications for travel grants will close on September 7, 2016.
