Call for Applications: Editor(s), Foreign Policy Analysis

The Publications Committee of the International Studies Association (ISA) and the Executive Committee will make a recommendation to the ISA Governing Council regarding the assignment of editorial duties for (Foreign Policy Analysis) at the 2020 annual meeting in Honolulu. The individual or team selected to serve as editor(s) of FPA will hold that position for a five-year term January 1, 2021 – December 31, 2025. There will also be some transitional duties during late 2020. Proposals received no later than August 31, 2019 are assured most thorough consideration. View the call for proposals here.

 

Congratulations to ISA's New James N. Rosenau Postdoctoral Fellow!

The Association is pleased to announce that Nicholas R. Micinski has been awarded the 2019-2020 James N. Rosenau Postdoctoral Fellowship. Nick's research focuses on international cooperation on migration and how states use refugee policies—such as refugee resettlement, expulsion, and aid—as a foreign policy tool. Nick is currently teaching at Boston University, and previously taught at Baruch College. Nick received his M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York, and his B.A. from Michigan State University.

 

Committee on Siting for the Annual Meeting

The Ad Hoc Committee on Siting for the Annual Meeting presented their report at the 2019 Governing Council meeting in Toronto. You can view the Executive Summary here. Thanks to David Lake (chair), Soumita Basu, George Andreopoulos, Laura Shepherd, and Birol Yesilada for their diligent work on this project over the past year. ISA's Newest Region: Latin America & Caribbean

ISA is excited to welcome our newest region - the Latin America & Caribbean (LAC) region, which was approved at the ISA Governing Council meeting in Toronto! Learn more about the LAC Region here.

ISA-Accra 2019 Pre-Registration Deadline

The preliminary program for the 2019 ISA Accra International Conference, to be held at the Legon Center for International Affairs & Diplomacy, at the University of Ghana, has been announced. ISA at UNAI

On Thursday, 25 April 2019 at 3:00pm, ISA and the United Nations will sponsor an open forum on the topic “South-South cooperation and the UN Development System: Complement, competitor, role model, or threat?” This event is part of a series being cosponsored by ISA and United Nations Academic Impact, leading up to the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations. International Interactions - Special Issue

II publishes annual special issues in research that focuses upon the broad range of relations and interactions among the actors in the global system, and is now soliciting proposals for a 2021 special issue. We welcome special issues on topics that include political violence (such as interstate conflict, civil wars, and terrorism), conflict management and resolution, economic development, regional integration, trade relations, institutions, and globalization. Call for Submissions: ISA 2020 in Honolulu!

Submissions have opened for #ISA2020 in Honolulu! The theme is Multiple Identities and Scholarship in a Global IR: One Profession, Many Voices and the Convention will take place from March 25th - 28th, 2020 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. See the full call here!

Submit an ISA 2020 Career Course Proposal!

Career Courses are an excellent way for you to offer Annual Convention attendees the opportunity to enhance their professional development by sharing your knowledge about a particular method, subject or pedagogical technique. If you would like to teach a course, please visit the Career Course website to find out more information about the Career Course program, past Career Courses, and the application link (scroll down to the “Submit Proposal” button). If your proposal is accepted, you will be paid to teach a half-day long course on a topic that interests you! Proposals are due by June 1, 2019.

Apply Now for the 7th Annual Pay It Forward Workshop!

The Committee on the Status of Women welcomes applications from early career scholars who want to take part in ISA’s seventh annual Pay It Forward (PIF) workshop in Honolulu, Hawaii. PIF is a unique mentorship program directed toward women graduate students and junior faculty that takes place the day before the Annual Convention. At the workshop, participants engage with senior women faculty who provide guidance on a variety of topics, such as securing employment, publishing, tenure, promotion, and work-life balance, among others. Submit a 2020 Research Workshop Grant Proposal!

The International Studies Association is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the Research Workshop Grant program for 2020. The program promotes and supports the interaction of scholars from different parts of the global international studies community. Research Workshop Grants (up to $10,000) are targeted for projects that aim to apply new expertise or new approaches to established research topics and are likely to catalyze rapid and innovative advances. The deadline to submit proposals is June 15, 2019. Click here for more information.

We are delighted to inform you that the preliminary program for the IDSS-KAIS Conference 2019, to be held at Yonsei University, South Korea (July 4th - 6th, 2019), has been announced. ISA-South Memphis 2019: Call for Proposals

ISA-South invites paper, panel and roundtable proposals on any subject related to international studies, broadly defined, and strongly encourages submissions on subjects related to the conference theme: “Think Locally, Act Globally.” The conference will be held October 4th - 5th at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.
