ISA West-Pay It Forward still has a few open spots. If you are on the ISA West Program and are a female-identifying graduate student or junior faculty who would like mentoring and additional support, consider applying for Pay it Forward. Pay it Forward-West will pair you with established female-identifying scholars that can provide mentoring and insight from their experiences working in the field of international studies. The program is intended to create enduring connections among West members that benefit both mentors and mentees, professionally and personally. This year's programming will consist of two components:
- A Pay it Forward mentoring lunch provided free to program participants only. The lunch will take place during the Friday lunch break.
- A Pay it Forward Mentoring Cafe roundtable open to all conference attendees.
Senior scholars will share mentoring advice and experiences and engage in a Q&A session with audience members. The roundtable takes place during the Saturday morning session (8:30-10:15). To apply, female-identifying advanced graduate students and early career faculty should submit a current resume to the ISA West Program Chair, Amy Skonieczny at (isa-west@isanet.org). We also ask that applicants describe (on a ten-point scale, 1 being none and 10 being excellent) their existing support system (at your current institution or otherwise). Finally, mention whether you have previously participated in the ISA PiF program.
The deadline to apply is Friday, August 31st, 2018. Preference is given to individuals already registered and on the program, to those from the West region and to those who have not been selected for ISA PiF in the past, though others may apply. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any additional funding. Mentors have already been selected.
