Fellowship - Drugs, Security and Democracy

The Social Science Research Council announces the application process for the Drugs, Security and Democracy Fellowship. The program provides support for research across a variety of disciplines—anthropology, sociology, criminology, history, political science, international relations, economics, journalism, public policy, legal studies, public health, and other related fields—to create a network of scholars interested in developing alternative approaches to drug policy. The competition is open to PhD candidates and recent PhD recipients worldwide. Applications are due by January 20, 2014.



ISA-ISSS Call for Nominations: ISSS Governing Council

Nominations are invited for elections to the Governing Council of the International Security Studies Section (ISSS) of the International Studies Association. Members of this council assume the broad responsibility of assisting in the governance of the section. We welcome nominations from all regions of the world. It is desirable to have diversity on the governing council across categories that include race, ethnicity, and gender. It is also desirable to have diversity across professional pursuits including academia, think tanks, NGOs, and government organizations. This year a total of four members will be elected to the Governing Council for a three-year term. Nominees must be members of the section at the time of the election. Nominations should be sent to: and must be received by December 3, 2013.



ISA Officer Election

The ISA officer election for the 2015-2016 term is ongoing. Ballots were e-mailed on November 18th and we hope to receive your response as soon as possible, but no later than December 5th. Thank you to all the candidates for your willingness to serve and contribute your time to ISA.



Convention Registration Moved Outside Exhibit Hall

The registration area has been relocated to the Lower Concourse Level next to the exhibit hall at the Sheraton Centre Hotel. The Cyber Cafe is also located in the same area and we have sponsorship opportunities available.



Call for Papers: PDG Warsaw 2014 - Deadline for Proposals

As a friendly reminder the Eurasia – Defining and Crossing Barriers conference to be held in Warsaw, Poland on June 17-18, 2014 deadline is here! If you are interested please don’t hesitate to drop by our website. We will be keeping the submission system open but those in the system the weekend of November 15th will get priority. All are welcome and hope to see you there.



ISA-Midwest Awards Deadline December 16th

Please send your nominations for the Quincy Wright Distinguished Scholar Award,  the Frank J. Klingberg Best Faculty Paper Award,  the Lynne Rienner Best Graduate Student Paper Award and the Margaret G Hermann Award (presented by ISA-Midwest) to Cameron Thies by December 16, 2013.
