ISA Research Workshop Grant Proposals Now Being Accepted

The International Studies Association is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the Research Workshop Grant program for 2020. The program promotes and supports the interaction of scholars from different parts of the global international studies community. Research Workshop Grants (up to $10,000) are targeted for projects that aim to apply new expertise or new approaches to established research topics and are likely to catalyze rapid and innovative advances. The deadline for applications is June 15, 2019.

ISA-South Memphis 2019: Call for Proposals

ISA-South invites paper, panel and roundtable proposals on any subject related to international studies, broadly defined, and strongly encourages submissions on subjects related to the conference theme: “Think Locally, Act Globally.” The conference will be held October 4th - 5th at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. The deadline for paper and panel submissions for the ISA-South conference is Friday, June 21st.

Call for Applications Editor(s), Foreign Policy Analysis

The Publications Committee of the International Studies Association (ISA) and the Executive Committee will make a recommendation to the ISA Governing Council regarding the assignment of editorial duties for Foreign Policy Analysis (https://academic.oup.com/fpa) at the 2020 annual meeting in Honolulu. The individual or team selected to serve as editor(s) of FPA will hold that position for a five-year term January 1, 2021 – December 31, 2025. There will also be some transitional duties during late 2020.  Proposals received no later than August 31, 2019 are assured most thorough consideration.

Apply Now for the 7th Annual Pay It Forward Workshop!

The Committee on the Status of Women welcomes applications from early career scholars who want to take part in ISA’s seventh annual Pay It Forward (PIF) workshop in Honolulu, Hawaii. PIF is a unique mentorship program directed toward female graduate students and junior faculty that takes place the day before the Annual Convention. At the workshop, participants engage with senior women faculty who provide guidance on a variety of topics, such as securing employment, publishing, tenure, promotion, and work-life balance, among others. ISA-Midwest - J. David Singer Book Award Winner Announcement

I am pleased to inform you that the ISA Midwest region has chosen Oliver Kaplan’s (University of Denver) book Resisting War: How Communities Protect Themselves to be the recipient of the J. David Singer Book Award. This award is given every other year to the author of an outstanding book published in the previous three years and carries a $200 cash prize as well as a framed ISA certificate.
