ISA Call for Officer Nominations

ISA 2022 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENTS

The International Studies Association Nominating Committee invites members of the association to nominate candidates to be considered for offices for 2023-2024, including a president and three vice-presidents, each of whom will serve a one-year term. Qualifications for candidates for President and Vice President include (a) excellence in scholarship, (b) a distinguished record of service to the Association, (c) leadership and administrative skill, and (d) a commitment to diversity and the purpose and mission of the Association. At least one of the Vice Presidents shall be from an institution in a country that is or has historically been underrepresented in the Association membership or leadership and the set of Vice Presidents shall be gender-diverse. Nominations should contain in a single PDF: (1) a detailed letter that addresses the nominee's professional accomplishments and service to the association; (2) a current vita for the candidate; and (3) a statement stating they would be willing to serve if elected and explaining their commitment to diversity and the purpose and mission of the Association. The ISA is strongly committed to diversity in its officers. Current members of the nominating committee are not eligible while serving their three-year terms.

Application and Nomination Procedure:
The members may nominate any candidate, including themselves, for the positions of President or Vice President. Nominations must be received by August 1, 2021, and include in a single PDF a letter of nomination, curriculum vitae, and a statement by the nominee acknowledging the nomination and stating their willingness to meet the demands of the office as well as explaining their commitment to diversity and the purpose and mission of the Association.

Nominations should be sent directly to the nominating committee at this email: nominations2022@isanet.org. Please put "ISA Nomination for (insert title of office)" in the subject line.

The ISA President should be willing to travel on Association business. Additional officer responsibilities can be found listed in the ISA Constitution. The individuals nominated may also indicate their willingness to serve in another position; e.g. someone nominated for the role of Vice President may indicate their willingness to serve as President or vice versa.

The Nominating Committee will review the candidates' qualifications with respect to the requirements of the position as stated in the call for nominations and nominate at least two candidates for President and at least six candidates for Vice President (two of which must be from institutions in countries that are or have historically been underrepresented in the Association membership or leadership and as a set are conducive to gender diversity) in keeping with our newly revised constitution’s requirement for competitive elections. The Nominating Committee will inform all candidates of their status in a timely way.

AT-LARGE REPRESENTATIVES TO THE GOVERNING COUNCIL

The International Studies Association Nominating Committee invites members of the association to nominate candidates to be considered for the position of At-Large Representative on the ISA Governing Council. At-Large Members do not represent any specific Section of ISA and are included in the Governing Council in order to ensure representation of membership from institutions in countries that are or have historically been underrepresented in the Association membership or leadership. Self-nominations are welcome. At-Large Representatives serve terms of two ISA years. The Nominating Committee will put forth at least six nominees for the role of At-Large Member from which the membership will elect three. Ideally, selection criteria for at-large council members should include professional distinction and active involvement in knowledge of the ISA. Nominations should contain in a single PDF: (1) a detailed letter that addresses the nominee's professional accomplishments and experience with the association; (2) a current vita for the candidate; and (3) a short statement by the nominee acknowledging the nomination. The ISA is strongly committed to diversity in its officers.

Application and Nomination Procedure:
The membership may nominate any candidate, including themselves, for the position of At-Large Representative of the International Studies Association Governing Council. Nominations must be received by August 1, 2021, and include a nomination letter, curriculum vitae, and statement by the nominee acknowledging the nomination in a single PDF.

Nominations should be sent directly to the Nominating Committee at this email: nominations2022@isanet.org. Please put "ISA At-Large Representative Nomination" in the subject line. The Nominating Committee will review the candidates' qualifications with respect to the requirements of the position as stated in the call for nominations and nominate candidates for approval by the membership. The Nominating Committee will inform all candidates of their status in a timely way.
