FTGS offers an annual award for the best feminist theory and/or gender studies graduate student paper presented at the Annual ISA Conference. The award carries a stipend of $500 and comes with a peer review by the International Feminist Journal of Politics with a prospect for publication. We are currently accepting nominations for the best paper presented at the 2019 ISA Convention in Toronto.
Nominations can be made by anyone in the profession. We encourage discussants and chairs on FTGS panels to let us know about outstanding papers they encountered, but self-nominations are also strongly encouraged. We are also open to submission at various stages of development. The paper does not need to be polished or “ready” for publication, as we will be considering the originality of the argument. However, the person nominated must have been a graduate student at the time the paper was presented.
Nominations should include contact information of the nominee and a copy of the paper that was presented at ISA. Please submit these materials to Thomas Gregory (firstname.lastname@example.org). The deadline for nominations is 21 June 2019.
Results of the competition will be announced in the Fall of 2019. For more information, please see the FTGS ISA section website. Information on the awards can be found at https://www.isanet.org/Programs/Awards/Award-List/tag/FTGS. The award committee consists of: Catherine Eschle, Maria Tanyag, Shine Choi, Maria Martin de Almagro and Tom Gregory.
