Innovative Pedagogy Conference 2018 - Onsite Information

ISA Innovative Pedagogy Conference 2018

Our first annual ISA Innovative Pedagogy Conference (ISA-IPC) is just around the corner, and we are delighted that you will be joining us!  Our planning committee, composed of your fellow teacher-scholars from around the country, has been working hard to organize an exciting day-long conference on Thursday, November 15th at the Hilton Ballpark in St. Louis. This will be the beginning of an engaging series of meetings that will underscore our commitment to teaching with purpose in international studies. This year’s conference will provide valuable resources and professional development opportunities for faculty members and graduate students. It features dynamic workshops on a range of important pedagogy themes—and our workshop leaders are ready to engage with you and share ideas. We also offer a certification workshop for graduate teaching assistant training, as well as networking opportunities through plenary sessions.

This year’s conference will be held in conjunction with the ISA Midwest Conference. We would like to thank our colleagues and regional leaders—especially Carla Martinez Machain and Brian Lai—for their assistance. We hope that many of you will be staying to participate in the ISA Midwest meetings next weekend.

As you prepare for the ISA-IPC conference day and travel to St. Louis, please keep in mind some important elements of our schedule:

  • Registration Opens:  8:00 am – 10:00 am in the Hilton hotel lobby (check-in is required)
  • Opening Plenary Session: 9:00 am – 9:20 am, Ballpark Room 1
  • Workshop Sessions:  9:30 am – 5:30 pm
  • Graduate Student Teacher Training Workshop:  1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (advanced reservation required)
  • Evening Plenary Networking Session, featuring Keynote Address by ISA President Patrick James:  6:00 pm, Ballpark 1

In summary, we hope that you are as excited as we are to engage in this wonderful professional development opportunity at our inaugural conference. Please feel free to bring along your ideas and even materials to share.

We look forward to greeting you in St. Louis and wish you safe travels!
