FTGS Announces Award Winners

Graduate Student Paper Award 2014
The Feminist Theory and Gender Studies section is awarding the Graduate Student Paper Award 2014 to Rochelle Terman, University of California Berkeley (USA), for her paper ‘The Teleology of Anti-Imperialism: Islamophobia, Feminism, and Muslim Women's Rights'. The award will be conferred at the FTGS reception and award ceremony at the ISA Annual Convention 2015 in New Orleans. The Award Committee would also like to make honourable mention of Sheherazade Jafari's paper 'Women's Rights Activism in Muslim-Majority Countries: Traversing, Negotiating and Transcending Religious-Secular Divides', as this was a close runner-up. Sheherazade is based at American University in Washington, DC (USA). The Committee is grateful to everyone who nominated a paper for consideration; the field was very strong this year and it was a pleasure to engage with and celebrate such excellent feminist scholarship.
