International Ethics Section Remembers Past Chair

Frances V. Harbour, Associate Professor of Government at George Mason University, passed away on December 19, 2013.  She was instrumental to the founding, and is a past Chair of, the International Ethics Section of the International Studies Association.  She is fondly remembered by many members of the section not only for her work in the section's creation, but also for her support of new members and junior scholars entering the field. The International Ethics section hopes to honor Harbour's contributions with an award to be named after her.

Harbour was the author of Thinking About International Ethics: Moral Theory and Cases from American Foreign Policy which examined the use of nuclear and chemical weapons and the issue of most favored nation status for China from multiple ethical perspectives.  Harbour's work also appeared in numerous journals, including Ethics and International Affairs.

She is survived by her husband, John Mirone, and her son and daughter-in-law.
