ISA NE 2013: University of Michigan Press Special Conference Attendance

Melody Herr, Senior Acquisitions Editor, University of Michigan Press, will attend the ISA Northeast on 8 and 9 November. If you would like to make an appointment to discuss a potential book project, please contact Melody to make an appointment no later than 4 November.  

On Saturday, 9 November, from 4:30 - 6:00 PM, Melody will hold a mini-seminar on publishing scholarly books in State Suite B. Topics include:

  • deciding whether or not a project is suitable for publication as a book
  • identifying potential publishers
  • approaching press editors
  • preparing a book proposal
  • knowing what to expect during peer review at a university press
  • negotiating a publishing contract
  • preparing the final manuscript for publication
  • knowing what to expect during the publication and initial marketing processes
No registration is required for this seminar.
