ISA West

NO Image:
ISA West is looking forward to our upcoming conference in Pasadena, CA September 22nd to 23rd. We welcome paper, panel and roundtable proposals on any subject related to international studies, broadly defined. We are currently accepting submissions and will do so until the extended submission deadline of Thursday, June 29, 2017.
ISA-West continues to have paper awards and limited travel grants available to ISA members (preference will be given to members from the ISA West region). Information regarding travel grants will be sent when the conference program is announced.
ISA-West will also continue its Emerging Scholars Forum. Senior graduate students and junior faculty are encouraged to apply when submitting paper proposals for the program. Similar to ISA's Junior Scholar Symposium, this is a valuable opportunity to receive in-depth feedback from a senior scholar at a regional conference.
You can find additional information about the conference, the Emerging Scholars Forum, and proposal submissions at the conference website
We look forward to seeing you in Pasadena!
In addition to the ISA Annual Convention in San Francisco, ISA's groups host conferences around the U.S. and across the globe. Many of our groups just announced their conferences. Check out the list below for ISA conferences currently accepting proposals. We hope you will consider submitting proposals to be part of these exciting programs.
The 2016 ISA West Annual Conference was held at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena, CA September 23-24 and was coordinated by region Program Chair Amy Below...

ISA West is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Ole R. Holsti Award. Created in 2014, the Ole R. Holsti Distinguished Scholar Award is given annually to a scholar who has significantly influenced the ISA West region.

If you have not done so already, I recommend connecting with the authors on your panels to let them know the best way to submit their papers to you and the date by which you would like them. Traditionally, presenters should send their papers two weeks before the conference (which has already passed for us). If you are feeling generous and have a true sense for when you are likely to read the papers, you may let presenters know when you would like those papers and after which time you won't have time to read them and provide thoughtful comments. You can find your panels and author email addresses by logging into the ISA website and doing a search for your panels.

Secondly, each room will be equipped with a projector and screen, unfortunately, ISA West cannot at this time provide computers. One of your responsibilities is to ensure that there is at least one laptop on hand that can be connected to the projector. (For example, tablets will likely not be able to connect.) If someone brings a Mac, they will also need to bring along a "dongle." We will not be providing those either. If a presenter tells you they will bring a laptop and you feel like relying on them, feel free to do so. Otherwise, it may be best to bring your own. This can all be included in the email you send presenters.

Thanks to all chairs and discussants for your willingness to serve as a chair and/or discussant this year. You will help make the conference a success!

We are delighted to inform you that the preliminary program for the ISA-West 2016 conference, to be held in Pasadena, California, USA (September 23-25, 2016), has been announced. We look forward to seeing you in Pasadena in September!
