ISA West is excited about and looking forward to our upcoming conference in Pasadena, CA September 23rd to 24th. We welcome paper, panel and roundtable proposals on any subject related to international studies, broadly defined. Our conference continues its collaboration with ISA sections International ethics and Active Learning in International Affairs, thus we especially welcome papers related to these areas. We are currently accepting submissions and will do so until the submission deadline Tuesday, June 28, 2016

ISA-West continues to have paper awards and limited travel grants available to ISA members only. Information regarding travel grants will be sent when the conference program is announced.

This year ISA-West will continue its Emerging Scholars Forum (ESF, funding pending). Senior graduate students and junior faculty are encouraged to apply when submitting paper proposals for the program. Similar to ISA's Junior Scholar Symposium, this is a valuable opportunity to receive in-depth feedback from a senior scholar at a regional conference.

Additional information about the conference, the Emerging Scholars Forum and to submit proposals, visit the conference website.

We look forward to seeing you in Pasadena!

An updated conference program has been up loaded on the ISA West site.  Due to some withdrawals, I have had to reassign a few papers into another panel.  Also, please note that some discussants have been elevated to the chair role as well. Please submit your paper to your discussant no later than Friday, September 11th for their review. Thank you, and see you Pasadena!

ISA-West would like to announce the availability of small travel grants  to facilitate attendance at the annual conference (in Pasadena, CA September 25-26) for graduate students and junior faculty. The deadline to apply is July 31st. See the Travel page for more information.

ISA West is delighted to announce our 2015 Preliminary Program.  The ISA West 2015 Conference will be held in Pasadena, California, USA on September 25th - 26th, 2015. The theme of the conference is Innovations and Challenges in Teaching and Learning in a Globalizing World Order. Please visit ISA West's Program and Events page for additional details. We look forward to seeing everyone in Pasadena!

To ensure that everyone has had a chance to submit their proposals, we've decided to leave the submission system open through June 5th - so be sure you get any final proposals in!

This forum, held on the morning of the first day of the ISA-West conference, will place four small groups of four emerging scholars with a senior person in the field. The panels will be oriented around themes such international security, international political economy, international ethics, and international relations theory. The final composition of the panels will reflect the actual proposals received. The junior scholars will make brief presentations of their work, which will be followed by comments from the senior discussant and a broader discussion of their work and its relationship to the relevant subfield.

Funding pending from ISA's Professional Development Committee, funds would be used to cover one-half night at the conference hotel. To be eligible, all participants must be ISA members and registered for the 2015 ISA-West conference. Interested participants should indicate their desire to participate when submitting proposals.
