International Studies Perspectives has begun publishing English and Spanish language abstracts for all its articles. As of November 2017, there are eight articles in Advance Access with Spanish abstracts, and Vol. 19, No. 1 (February 2018) will be the first print issue to feature Spanish abstracts.

The reasons for this innovation are many. First, in a general sense, the ISP team is committed to expanding the presence of Global South scholars in the pages of the journal. Second, and more specifically, the ISP team wishes to extend ISP’s reach into the countries of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, drawing in new readers, submitting authors, and reviewers. Using Spanish language abstracts, particularly online, will help scholars and students in these regions find ISP.  Third, the United States itself is changing, and using English and Spanish language abstracts reflects this change in the “home country” of the International Studies Association.
