Still energized by last year’s Star Wars panel? Then be prepared for another inspiring innovative panel at ISA 2017! In ISA's Got Talent: Sing Your Paper Away! Presenters will deliver papers with ‘less sexy’ topics as performances. As instructors, IR scholars sometimes have trouble getting students interested in more mundane IR topics and a lot of those troubles stem from delivery tactics. Even the most interesting subject matter could be made unappealing by overcrowded Power Point slides or reading the paper aloud instead of presenting it in a more engaging manner. ISA’s Got Talent takes this problem to the extreme and asks participants to concentrate specifically on the delivery of their material, which may range from hip-hop to opera, or even poetry and character dialogue. Paper proposals for this panel should include an audio/video file that demonstrates the presenter’s ability to deliver their paper using any of these formats. Registered participants for the 2017 Annual Convention are invited to send their auditions to Lisa Gaufman by January 1st 2017.
