Travel grants for the convention/conference are intended to supplement other sources of funding for individuals attending the convention/conference. They are not meant to cover all the expenses involved in attending the convention. Due to limited resources and large numbers of requests, awards made by the Association almost always are for less than the total cost of program participation.

It is the policy of The International Studies Association to provide travel grants for two types of conferences: to ISA’s annual convention, and to international conferences that it co-sponsors with other entities. The travel grant budget is determined by the Governing Council. The travel grant program is administered by the Executive Director. Travel grants are not available for honoraria to senior scholars or policymakers. A travel grant is intended to supplement other sources of funding for individuals on the program at the annual convention or conference, it is not meant to cover all the expenses incurred. Travel grants will be distributed within 30 days after the convention/conference ends.
