American Association for the Advancement of Science Representative

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association. ISA is one of some 260 affiliated groups, and sends one representative to AAAS.


The ISA-AAAS Representative must maintain good membership standing with AAAS (Committee for Section K - Social, Economic and Political Sciences). 

About the Representative

The ISA Representative to the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences a permanent standing appointment of ISA. The representative is appointed by the ISA President and approved by the ISA Governing Council.


  • The representative serves a three-year term
  • The term officially begins with the start of the ISA Annual Convention meeting of the first year listed and ends with the closing of the ISA Governing Council meeting of the final year listed

Endeavoring to create communities of scholars dedicated to international studies, ISA is divided into 7 geographic subdivisions of ISA (Regions), 29 thematic groups (Sections) and 4 Caucuses which provide opportunities to exchange ideas and research with local colleagues and within specific subject areas.
