The deadline for paper/panel submissions was Friday, August 26, 2016.

The theme of this year's conference is Global Aspects of Civil War: Impact and Consequences.. In this age of increased and improved global communication and other forms of interactions and entanglements the impact and consequences of local, civil, and regional conflicts are global. These conflicts, therefore, create a whole range of new international political problems for actors on all levels. Paper and panel proposals that analyze ways in which different actors at all levels cope with the consequences and impact of local, civil, and regional conflicts are especially encouraged. Paper and panel proposals on any topic relating to international studies are also welcomed and encouraged.

The conference organizers would like to extend a special invitation to student participants. Graduate students are encouraged to submit paper proposals and, if accepted, to compete in the ISA-South Jim Winkates Graduate Student Paper Competition (deadline September 24th). Please note that in order to accept the award, students MUST attend the Saturday luncheon to be eligible to receive one of the awards. Interested students should contact Dorian Brown Crosby dcrosby1@spelman.edu). The organizers also encourage paper submissions from outstanding undergraduate students for panels featuring their research. (Note: To be considered undergraduate students must have a faculty sponsor who will commit to attend the conference. Please indicate undergraduate status and the contact details of your faculty sponsor on your proposal). In addition to the award opportunities, student registration fees are subsidized, and additional graduate student travel grants are available for students presenting papers. Travel grants are also available for newly appointed junior faculty in the ISA South Region.

The proposal submission deadline is Friday, August 26, 2016.

Questions about potential submissions and participation should be sent by e-mail to the Program Chair, Aart Holtslag .
