The deadline for paper/panel submissions is July 6, 2018.

The International Studies Association Southern Region is happy to announce its 2018 annual conference, to be held October 12-13 in Ashland, VA. The theme of this year’s meeting is “International Studies in an Increasingly Complex World". ISA-South encourages submissions related to the theme, though paper, pane and roundtable proposals on any topic relating to international studies are welcome. Submissions from those in academia, government, non-governmental organizations, the armed forces, and other entities are all strongly encouraged to apply.

Paper proposals must include an abstract of less than 200 words. Panel proposals must include 4-5 papers and at least one discussant. Roundtable proposals required between 3 and 10 participants, and a 200 word abstract illustrating the roundtable’s aims and expected outcomes.

The region would also like to extend a special invitation to student participants. Graduate students are encouraged to submit paper proposals and, if accepted, to compete in the ISA-South Jim Winkates Graduate Student Paper Competition. Undergraduate students wishing to be considered must have a faculty sponsor who commits to attending the conference. Undergraduate status, and the contact details for a faculty sponsor, must be provided to the program chair. To be considered for an award, students must attend the Saturday luncheon and must be active ISA members.

The proposal deadline is July 6, 2018.
