The conference takes place from Wednesday, July 25th - Friday, July 27th, 2018.

We've compiled some information on the conference location that you may find helpful. We're looking forward to seeing you soon!
Quito's airport is Mariscal Sucre International Airport UIO (Nuevo Aeropuerto Internacional de Quito, Tababela S/N - Via Yaruqui, Quito 17107032, Ecuador), approximately a 45 minute drive to the city.
Ecuador's official currency is the American dollar. Many local locations accept credit cards (Visa, MaterCard, American Express), and ATMs (Automated Teller Machine/Cajero automático) are located throughout the city at various bank (banco) locations.
Electrical Outlets in Quito are 110v and 60Hz, the same that is used for USA standard appliances (plug types A & B).
Quito is situated at an elevation of 9,350 ft (2,850 meters) above sea level, making it one of the world's highest capital cities. Altitude sickness may be of concern for some. Attendees are encouraged to stay well hydrated and get plenty of rest, especially in the initial days of the conference. As always, you should consult your doctor regarding health concerns and travel suggestions.
Taxi Cabs: Make sure you use those taxi cabs with the seal of Secure Taxi. Ask your hotel to get you a taxi. Your hotel might also be able to suggest a reliable phone application for cabs.
Taxis are also the easiest form of transport between Quito's airport and the city (they're usually yellow). Trips to the city from the airport will run approximately $20-25 USD. Taxis will provide a fare quote on a piece of paper in advance for the rider.
Bikes: Quito has a free bike share program (BiciQuito). You'll need to register with them, including supplying a completed application form and photocopy of your passport photo ID page and Ecuador entry stamp. Find more information.
Check out Ecuador's Official Travel Website for helpful information on traveling to Ecuador, including specifically Quito tourism. The city of Quito also has a free official phone app that you may find useful (GO UIO), which includes travel information, restaurants, hotels, attractions, maps and more. The app is available in both Apple and Android formats.
Additionally, the tourism bureau will also have a table at the conference and can provide additional information to attendees onsite.
At the Conference: We'll have food trucks outside the main campus building throughout the conference with food and coffee for purchase. The FLACSO cafeteria will also be available to the attendees. Please see the hours below:
Tuesday: 1:00 PM-7:00 PM
Wednesday: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Thursday: 8:00 AM-7:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM-7:00 PM
Around Town: Quito has a vibrant culinary community. The tourism board has some options and recommendations available both online and in their mobile app. Have fun exploring!
