Guidelines
Please read the following guidelines carefully. Your submission of a request for funding signifies your understanding and acceptance of these circumstances, conditions, and procedures.
1. Requests for funding from ISA can be considered only when submitted on the on-line form. You will receive an immediate confirmation of your completed application, please keep this for your records.
2. Final decisions regarding requests for funding are made by the executive office of ISA, acting under guidelines approved by the Governing Council of the Association and on the basis of information provided by the program chair.
3. Support shall not be provided to persons whose proposal for participation has not been formally accepted by the program chair.
4. Requests for funding received after the date of the published deadline for receipt of requests will not be supported.
5. Key principles guiding priority consideration for financial support include: (a) support for applications from developing countries, or countries with currency conversion problems; (b) support for applicants who have not received funding from ISA during the past two years. (c) support for applicants holding full-time professional appointments at institutions of higher education and/or research.
6. Due to limited resources and large numbers of requests, awards made by the Association almost always are for less than the total cost of convention participation. Financial awards in the recent past have averaged between US$600 and US$900 for applicants with currency conversion problems, and between US$200 and US$500 for other recipients.
7. In general, partial transportation costs can be considered for coverage through ISA awards. Costs other than travel are usually not considered in determining the amount of the award.
8. When an award is made, it is payable only after the original receipts are provided to ISA. In the case of airline tickets, it may be possible to make reimbursement against a copy of the original ticket stud and a formal billing statement from the agency issuing the ticket. Receipts must be in an amount at least equal to the amount of the award. No advance grant payments can be made.
9. Receipts equal to the amount awarded or more must be submitted at the convention (at the registration desk), or shortly thereafter, to ISA headquarters. The Association cannot make checks payable to anyone other than the person to whom the award has been made.
10. To participate and a receive financial support award, applicants must pre-register for the convention.
Can you apply for a travel grant without first paying for your registration (and ISA membership fee if applicable)?

NEW: Thank you for your interest in applying for a WISC travel grant. The grant application process has now closed and the applicants have now been notified about their grant status. Thank you.
In principle, it is expected that the applicant will be presenting a paper at the conference. For paper submissions, please go to http://www.wiscnetwork.org/submission.php. Applications of participants, whose paper proposals will not be accepted by the Programme Chair, will not be considered for the allocation of a travel grant.
Please Note: Participants are responsible for the totality of their expenses. The ISA accepts no responsibility in this regard. Grants are intended to provide support for your travel to the conference, not to pay for the entirety of your expense. Full funding will not be available for any applicant.
The deadline for submitting applications is 19 May 2008.
Participants should also seek funding from other sources. The list of suggestions will be generated here. We invite our members who know of a foundation to which participants might wish to apply for financial support, to let us know (isa@u.arizona.edu) and sends us a link, which we will post here.
