Sections offer closer ties between Members who are interested in specific areas within the field of International Studies. Presently, there are 23 sections of ISA.
Sections may be created by submitting a written statement to the Governing Council inclusive of a discussion of the following:
- Need for the Section
- General statement of the Section goals and objectives
- Activities to be held by the Section
- Estimated interest of the ISA Community in the Section
- A statement of recognition that the Section has the responsibility of preparing an Annual Report to the Governing Council and a review document during the fifth (5th) year of the Section's existence for the purpose of Re-chartering the Section
- Anticipated organizational structure of the Section (including, but not necessarily limited to):
- Temporary officers for the purpose of organizing the Section
- Designation of the person empowered to authorize the expenditure of Section Funds
In addition, a petition must be submitted to the Governing Council which bears the signatures of fifty current ISA members.
