Contestation and Change in International Affairs
The theme of this year's conference is Contestation and Change in International Affairs. Political, economic and social challenges to the prevailing status quo represent a recurrent theme in international politics. These challenges have produced and/or augur change inside states, within and across regions, and throughout the international system as a whole. While paper and panel proposals on any topic relating to international studies are welcome, those that address the causes, courses, and consequences of political change are especially welcome. We welcome both individual papers and organized panels that address theoretical, methodological, and/or empirical questions and analyses that bear on the conference theme.
The conference organizers would like to extend a special invitation to student participants. Graduate students are encouraged to submit paper proposals and, if accepted, to compete in the ISA-South Jim Winkates Graduate Student Paper Competition . The organizers also encourage paper submissions from outstanding undergraduate students for a special panel featuring their research. (Note: To be considered undergraduate students must have a faculty sponsor who will commit to attend the conference).
Paper and/or panel proposals are due by Friday, August 3rd. Panel, roundtable, and individual paper proposals should be submitted via MyISA system. Click “My Submissions” on the ISA-West conference page to submit a proposal. If you do not already have one, you will need to create an account in order to access MyISA. Please note that you need not be a member of the International Studies Association in order to create an account, submit a proposal, or attend the conference. Questions about submissions and registration may be directed to the conference organizers at isasouth2012@isanet.org.
If you have any questions about the proposal process, please contact one of the conference organizers:
