If you know of a graduate student that is planning to give a paper at the Annual Convention, please encourage him/her to submit it for consideration for the Lawrence Finkelstein Prize -- this award is open to all ISA members. Likewise, we encourage all section members to nominate recently-published works in the area of international organization for the Chadwick F. Alger Prize. Descriptions of each award are listed below for your convenience. Many thanks!
Chadwick F. Alger Prize: The International Organization Section is seeking nominations for its annual Chadwick F. Alger Prize. This prize recognizes the best work, usually a book, of the previous year in the area of international organization. The Awards Committee is particularly interested in works dealing with the issues of civil society and local political interaction that characterize many of the writings of Chadwick F. Alger. The nomination deadline is December 15th of each year. For more information on the prize, please see the award website: http://www.isanet.org/awards-grants/alger.html
Lawrence s. Finkelstein Prize: The International Organization Section seeks nominations for its annual Lawrence s. Finkelstein Prize. We are seeking high quality graduate student papers that were presented (on a panel or as a poster) at the 2009 Annual Convention. Papers must discuss international organization, as broadly defined. Students are permitted to edit the paper presented at the conference, as long as the paper remains unchanged in substance. The Section particularly welcomes submissions from outside the United States. The prize will be awarded at the IO Business Meeting at the upcoming Convention. The winner will receive a $100 cash prize plus a travel grant for up to $500 to attend the 2010 ISA Convention. The Section also encourages the prize recipient to submit the paper to the journal Global Governance for possible publication. Students should email their papers to Prize Committee Chair Eric K. Leonard, at eleonard@su.edu. Please include "Finkelstein Prize Submission" in the subject line. In the email, note the panel or poster session on which you presented the paper. The deadline for submissions is June 30th of each year. For more information on the prize, please see the award website
