News from the Global Development Section
From 2012 onwards our newsletter will become bi-annual, one issue being published immediately after the annual ISA conference, and the other, a couple of months before the next conference.
Additionally, an email discussion group has now been set up in order to facilitate communication of events and initiatives in the time between ISA con-ferences. This facility will be especially useful for finding panel participants for ISA 2013. The facility is closed to public viewing.
To sign up to the discussion group send an email to:

GDS Annual Convention Report
The 2012 ISA Annual Convention was a great success for the GDS Section. We hosted a very well attended and extremely interesting workshop on "The Afterlives of Neo-Liberalism" attended by both early career and established scholars. Professor Saskia Sassen was invited to give a keynote address to the workshop, and she took part in the proceeding conversations. Professor Sassen was also honoured as this year’s “eminent scholar” at a panel that was attended by approximately 150 people. A very successful drinks re-ception for the section was held afterwards, sponsored generously by the journal, Third World Quarterly. This year the section spon-sored 44 panels and co-sponsored a further 11. All in all, GDS proved itself to be, once again, one of the most vibrant and diverse sections of the ISA.
