The International Feminist Journal of Politics (IFJP) strives to create a visible and vocal feminist space in international studies. The IFJP was launched shortly after the tenth anniversary of the Feminist Theory and Gender Studies (FTGS) Section and the first conference on women and international relations (IR) at the London School of Economics. This focus on creating a feminist space comes from the recognition that the field of international studies continues to be male-dominated and saturated with understandings of power, politics and international relations that erase women. In the face of this challenge, Feminist Politics is urging readers to rethink international politics. (New Spaces, New Politics, 1999).
