News You Can Use - April 2011
Annual Convention 2012: ISA’s Call for Proposals for the 2012 meeting in San Diego has been posted You can find the link at http://www.isanet.org/annual_convention/call-for-papers.html Please consider developing a panel, roundtable, paper or poster proposal. Your chances of acceptance are increased if you indicate two sections as sponsors or, if your proposal fits these, you can ask for consideration as both a theme panel and also from the closest section fitting the topic. There is another possibility for proposals. The International Education and Active Learning Sections are interested in cosponsoring up to four panels or roundtables in 2012 emphasizing teaching and learning in the content areas of all of the sections. We hope to continue to do so at subsequent annual conferences in order to support faculty development and improved student learning. Participating sections are planning to post materials websites related to teaching and learning in their content areas on their section to make these resources available for ISA members.
BISA: The British International Studies Association will accept a panel from each ISA section for its summer 2012 conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dates for the conference are June 20-22, 2012. There is special interest in panels focused on teaching and learning. If anyone is interested, please let me know as soon as possible so I can communicate this information to Tom Volgy. The call for papers will open in June 2011 and will likely be announced by both ISA and BSA.
Compendium: ISA’s Compendium Project publisher is accepting proposals for its third part, a section volume series titled “Guides to International Studies.” If you are interested in submitting an article related to International Education, please let me know and also contact Bob Denemark, ISA Compendium Project General Editor. Wiley Blackwell promised one year of electronic access to all Compendium Project authors, but provided 14 months of access to the entire ISA membership as well. Unfortunately the period of free access will end on April 28, 2011.
