University of Trento Offering PhD Scholarships

The University of Trento is now inviting applications from qualified candidates for 22 PhD Scholarships in its three PhD programs. Scholarships are offered in the following programs: Economics and Management;  Local Development and Global Dynamics; Sociology and Social Research. All programs are conducted in English and will be taught by members of the university’s multi-national faculty. No tuition fees are charged and the scholarships are adequate to cover living expenses in Trento. Scholarships will be augmented by 50% for authorized research periods spent abroad. Applications should be received by June 6, 2011. ASEN PhD Scholarship

The Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN) is offering a scholarship worth £1000 to PhD candidates in the fields of nationalism and ethnicity. All ASEN members who are PhD students registred at institutions in the UK and Ireland are eligible. Please send the following documents in one pdf: your ASEN membership number, CV, Cover Letter, 1000-word research proposal, a reference from your PhD supervisor and a 500-word description of how this money would be used. Examples for the suitable appropriation of the scholarship money would be: language tuition linked to the field of research, conference costs (proof of conference registration required), field research costs, and acquiring research materials. The closing date for the applications is on May 15, 2011. Please send your application in a single attachment to asen@lse.ac.uk.

PhD Scholarships in International Studies, University of Trento

The University of Trento in Italy invites applications for their 2011-2012 PhD Scholarships in International Studies program. The doctorate combines interdisciplinary approaches within a structure based on economics, law and politics. It is entirely in English, with a taught component in the first year and there will be at least 5 funded places. While all projects related to the main areas covered in the School of International Studies are welcome, candidates with interests in the following areas will be preferred: International Law, International and EC Labour Law, European Union Law, Comparative Legal Studies, International Criminal Justice, Transnational Crime, European Political, Economic and Monetary Integration, International Trade and Economic Development, International Political Economy, EU Public Policy,  Comparative Public Policy, Multi-level Governance, Peace-building and Conflict Resolution, Post-1945 International and European History. CfA: Peace Scholar Dissertation Scholarships

The Jennings Randolph (JR) Program for International Peace invites applications from students at U.S. universities who are writing doctoral dissertations on topics related to peace, conflict, and international security. Each year the program awards approximately ten Peace Scholar Fellowships. The scholarship provides a non-residential $20,000 stipend for Ph.D. students completing their dissertation. Fellowships last for 10 months starting in September. Fellowships are open to citizens of any country. Dissertation projects in all disciplines are welcome. CfA: PhD Scholarships, School of International Studies, University of Trento

The School of International Studies at the University of Trento is accepting applications for the places in the doctoral program in International Studies for the 2010-2011 academic year. The doctorate combines multidisciplinary approaches within a structure that allows students to specialize in one of three tracks: International Politics, International Law and International Economics. It is entirely in English, with a taught component in the first year. Candidates are asked to include in the application a short summary (max 5 pages - 2500 words) of their proposed research. CfA: Summer Research Program for Undergraduates

The Department of Political Science at Oklahoma State University invites applications for the sixth annual Democracy, Interdependence and World Politics Summer Research Program for undergraduates. This program presents a valuable opportunity for undergraduate students to conduct faculty–mentored research projects. Supported by summer stipends of $4,000, research funds, travel funds, and intensive mentoring, students will formulate and carry out a research project work in one of the program’s issue areas: Foreign Policy in a Democracy; Interdependence and Foreign Policy; Democratization and Democracy Promotion; and Interdependence, Democracy and Conflict. Successful applicants will spend about 9 weeks at Oklahoma State (June – July) during the summer of 2010, where they will work with a team of faculty members and visiting scholars to develop research questions and design and complete projects. All application material is located on the Oklahoma State University Department of Political Science website. Please note that NSF rules require participants to be US citizens or permanent residents. The application deadline is February 15, 2010.
