The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) invites applications to its Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program. Established in 2001, the program is named in honor of NED’s principal founders, former U.S. president Ronald Reagan and the late U.S. congressman Dante Fascell. Based at NED’s International Forum for Democratic Studies, in Washington, D.C., the program is designed to enable democracy practitioners and scholars from around the world to deepen their understanding of democracy and enhance their ability to promote democratic change.

Program: The program offers five-month fellowships for practitioners to improve strategies and techniques for building democracy abroad and five- to ten-month fellowships for scholars to conduct original research for publication. Practitioners may include activists, lawyers, journalists, and other civil society professionals; scholars may include professors, research analysts, and other writers. Projects may focus on the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural aspects of democratic development and may include a range of methodologies and approaches.

Eligibility: The fellows program is intended primarily to support practitioners and scholars from new and aspiring democracies. Distinguished scholars from the United States and other established democracies are also eligible to apply. Practitioners are expected to have substantial experience working to promote democracy. Scholars are expected to have a doctorate, or academic equivalent, at the time of application. The program is not designed to pay for professional training or to support students working toward a degree. A working knowledge of English is an important prerequisite for participation in the program.

Support: The fellowship year begins October 1 and runs through July 31, with major entry dates in October and March. All fellows receive a monthly stipend, health insurance, travel assistance, and research support through the Forum’s Democracy Resource Center and the Reagan-Fascell Research Associates Program.

ISA Login FAQ

As you know, we have a new system that no longer uses the e-mail address and member ID as a login. We now ask members to choose their own user name and password. Here is a list of frequently asked questions that may help you with the new login process.

1. The system will not recognize my login, what do I do?

When you try to login and your user name or password are not correct you will receive the following error message:

Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.

Like many people you may have several passwords that you use for various online services and if, after trying your regular passwords, your login still fails, please use the Forgot Username/Password link that appears directly below the login box on the MyISA website.

Clicking this link will generate a a text box into which you may place your e-mail address. Then select either User Name (if you forgot your user name, use this link) or Reset Password. Next, click Send. This will generate an e-mail sent to your e-mail address, the e-mail will contain either your user name or a link to create an entirely new password (depending on which option you selected).

The password should be at least six characters long and the form will take any standard character including comma, dot, question marks, etc.

If you are trying to reset your password and you do not receive the reset password e-mail there could be a few things causing this.

  • the e-mail address you provided may not be your primary e-mail in the MyISA system.
  • the reset e-mail may be diverted to your spam folder.

In either case, please e-mail ISA (isa@u.arizona.edu) with the subject line Reset Password Failed and a new temporary password will be mailed to you.

2. I tried to login and the system is asking me for my member ID and I don't know what that is.

If you already have an account on the system and you attempt to create a new account, this process will cause error messages.

You do not need a member ID to login to MyISA. The login only requires your user name and password.

3. I can't login and all I want to do is register for the convention, can you help?

We have posted multiple methods of registration on our website:

http://www.isanet.org/newyork2009/2008/02/register-for-th.html

We would be happy to accept your registration payment by phone, fax, e-mail or postal mail. We will still need to get your MyISA account access restored and will work with you to complete the process.
