CFP: Belgrade Security Forum

The organizers of the Belgrade Security Forum have the pleasure of inviting scholars and researchers to submit their proposal papers for the academic portion of the third Belgrade Security Forum (BSF) to be held on 19-21 September 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Belgrade, Serbia. The topic of this year’s academic event is Transformation of State and Professional Practices in International Security. Drawing on insights from International Relations, Security Studies and Sociology of Professions, this conference wishes to raise the following questions: What are the consequences of state transformation on professional international security practices such as the military, the police and diplomacy? What is the impact of privatization of international security on those professions? Is the social standing and autonomy of these professions intact or are they being challenged by the deep transformation of the field of international security? How are their professional culture and ethos affected by new technological and political transformations? All submissions must include the applicant’s CV (two pages at most) attached to his/her paper proposal (up to 400 words). CFP: International Turgut Ozal Congress

The organizers invite proposals for the International Turgut Ozal Congress on Business, Economics and Political Science (INTOC) is organized by Turgut Ozal University in Ankara. The conference will be held on 1-3 November 2013.  This congress is dedicated to perpetuate the vision and legacy of Turgut Ozal, the 8th President of Republic of Turkey, who devoted his life to humanity, international peace and democracy. This congress aims to provide opportunities of knowledge sharing with academics from a range of disciplines and establishing contact with experts from different countries and institutions. All theoretical and empirical papers from business, economics and political science disciplines in wide range of subject areas are welcomed. Organizing committee values papers on contemporary theoretical developments, theoretical modeling and empirical research including case studies, historical, comparative and multidisciplinary studies. The organizers invite proposals for the 4th Urban Space and Social Life: Theory and Practice Conference to be held 13-15 June 2013 in Tongli, Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. CFP: Crossing Boundaries in Crisis Communication

The organizers invite proposals for the Third International Conference on Crisis Communication, October 2-5, 2013, at the ComCenter Brühl in Erfurt, Germany. Contributions that present innovative perspectives on international and/or cross-cultural crisis communication are welcome. In addition, papers should offer conceptual and/or empirical approaches to crisis communication that cross institutional, disciplinary, or epistemological ‘boundaries’. All theoretical perspectives and methodologies are welcome. However, special consideration will be given to cross-national/cross-cultural comparative research. Abstracts should state the title of the presentation, purpose, theoretical approach, methodology, (expected) findings, implications, relevance, and originality of the study. Author and affiliation details are to be included separately in the paper submission system. Abstracts have to be submitted until April 15, 2013. Call for Applicants: Summer Institute in Political Psychology

Stanford University invites applicants for the 21st Annual Summer Institute in Political Psychology (SIPP), to be held at Stanford July 14 to August 3, 2013. The SIPP program takes up to 60 participants and is filling up quickly though there are still some spots available. The Summer Institute offers three weeks of intensive training in political psychology. SIPP activities will include lectures by world-class faculty, discussion groups, research/interest group meetings, group projects, and an array of social activities. In 2013, SIPP will accept up to 60 participants, including graduate students, faculty, professionals, and advanced undergraduates. CFP: 7th International Turkish - Asian Congress

The Turkish Asian Center for Strategic Studies (TASAM) and Central Asian Research Center at Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University (ORASAM-KTMU) invite proposals for the 7th International Turkish - Asian Congress to be held 13-14 June 2013 in Bishkek-Kyrgyzstan. Proposals are invited on the conference theme Energy, Water and Food Security in Asia. The problems related to energy, water and food are required more international cooperation than any other problem. The Asian Congress aims to create a continental based consciousness with regards to energy, water and food security, intellectual contribution to the resolution of conflicts and development of cooperation and interaction among Asian countries on energy, water and food policies. Conference: Annual U.S. Army War College Strategy Conference

The organizers announce the 24th Annual Strategy Conference in Carlisle, Pennsylvania from 9-11 April 2013. The conference theme is The Future of American Landpower and participants will explore American Landpower implications associated with an evolving national security strategy. Conference debaters, panelists, and speakers will examine how the U.S. Government and the Army can meet the challenges of the future security environment in light of sequestration, military downsizing, and an evolving international security environment. Fundamental assumptions of the conference are that the U.S. economy is the foundation of America's strength and security, that diplomacy backed by a strong military is necessary to shape America's future engagement around the world, and that Landpower development initiatives must take place within this reality. This year, Dr. John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago will kick off the event as the opening keynote speaker, and Dr. Andrew Krepinevich will provide the banquet keynote address. CFP: 12th METU Conference on International Relations

The organizers invite paper and panel proposals for the 12th METU Conference on International Relations. The METU Conference, one the oldest annual conferences in Turkey on international relations, will be held between 12-14 June 2013 in Ankara. The Conference takes pride in annually bringing together scholars from all around the world to exchange views in approximately 50 panels and roundtables. The topic of this year’s conference is "Turkey in the World." In recent years there has been an increasing interest in Turkey’s role in world politics. This conference aims to provide a broad framework for scholars, policy-makers and experts who work on different aspects of Turkish politics. The Middle East Technical University (METU) invites proposals for the 7th Asian Political and International Studies Association (APISA) Annual Congress for 2013 to be held 25-26 October, 2013, at Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. The conference hopes to contribute both to the scholarship on Asia and the current debates on theory and methodology in social sciences in an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary environment. CFP: Wellington Conference on Contemporary China 2013

The China Research Centre invites proposals for the Wellington Conference on Contemporary China 2013. The conference theme is: China’s Global Course: The Political Economy of China Going Global. The conference brings international scholars together for a two-day international conference to examine the trends and emerging pattern of China’s international trade, investment, and activities in other international economic sectors, analyse and explain how these trends and patterns shape global and regional economic order, and assess what medium and long term impact they have on the national economy, politics and policy of individual countries. The conference invites scholars and policy analysts to examine and explain the trends and patterns of Chinese international economic activities, analyse and measure crucial aspects of China’s impact on the world economy at the global and national levels, and assess the analytical tools we have to understand global economic developments brought about by the growth of the Chinese economy. The organizing committee invites participants to submit abstracts of up to 150 words before April 30, 2013 to Professor Xiaoming Huang (xiaoming.huang@vuw.ac.nz), chair of the organizing committee, and Dr. Jason Young (jason.young@vuw.ac.nz), programme coordinator at the NZCCRC.
