The Journal of Strategic Security (JSS) – a publication of Henley-Putnam University – seeks manuscripts for an upcoming issue on addressing preparedness, response, and resilience in the face of security threats facing the general population, critical infrastructures, and key resources. Threats can emanate from a wide-range of sources, including foreign terrorist groups, "homegrown" violent extremists, insiders, and even lone wolf actors. The diversity of threat sources requires a critical examination of how traditional threat assessment and risk management strategies are evolving to create new best practices for integrating law enforcement and community awareness to identify, prepare, and respond to dangers. Government, the private sector, and the public all have a role to play to ensure that communities – and nations – are prepared to respond to man-made threats and natural disasters. This issue seeks creative approaches to preparedness and response in nations and communities in way that deters threats, mitigates vulnerabilities, and builds resiliency against future threats. The Journal looks forward to reading submissions by the March 1, 2013 deadline. Proposals and inquiries are welcome.
