Wageningen University is looking for a PhD candidate in global politics of agriculture, environment, and health. This PhD project will study international governance initiatives (mostly FAO-WHO-UNEP related) that focus on the improvement of pesticide risk regulation in developing countries. The research will study the relationships between businesses and regulatory bodies, claims about ownership and confidentiality of information submitted, the function of science advisory bodies, the level where regulatory decisions are made, and the role of developing countries in informational pesticide governance. Applicants should have a prior degree in political science, anthropology, political ecology, development studies, political economy, or related field. This is a four year PhD project. The successful candidate will be based at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and carry out field work in places such as India, Costa Rica, Brussels, and Rome.
