The Middle Atlantic Council of Latin American Studies will hold its annual meeting at American University in Washington, DC from March 22-24, 2012. The theme of this year’s conference is “Latin America: Hopes, Dreams and Reality after the Washington Consensus.” The Program Committee invites faculty, students, and practitioners to submit individual papers and panel proposals that illustrate how the people and the countries of Latin America are responding to current challenges in light of the region’s cultural, political and economic heritage and within the changing international economic and political environment. Papers dealing with all aspects of Latin American studies are welcome. You may submit a 250-word abstract for individual papers or complete panel proposals (one 250 word abstract for the panel) in English or Spanish by December 21, 2011 to Program Director Jim Baer at maclasproposal@gmail.com.
