The conference organizers invite proposals for the Middle Atlantic Council of Latin American Studies annual meeting at American University in Washington, DC from March 22-24, 2012. The theme of this year’s conference is "Latin America: Hopes, Dreams and Reality after the Washington Consensus." Faculty, students, and practitioners are invited to submit individual papers and panel proposals that illustrate how the people and the countries of Latin America are responding to current challenges in light of the region’s cultural, political and economic heritage and within the changing international economic and political environment. Of course, papers dealing with all aspects of Latin American studies are welcome. Proposals should be submitted by December 21, 2011 to Program Director Jim Baer at maclas.proposal@gmail.com. Please see the conference website for more information.
