On January 21, 2011 the ECPR will stage its third Capital Lecture, part of the Capital Lecture Series (CLS) designed to highlight the work of political scientists and place it in context alongside that of practitioners in the field, thus, it is hopes, raising the profile of the profession and fostering greater links between society and academia. The theme of the Rome Lecture is Religion, Democracy and Civil Liberties. Speakers include Professors Tariq Ramadan (University of Oxford), Joseph Maila (Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs), Pasquale Ferrara (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Jeffrey Haynes (London Metropolitan University).
