The program committee invites faculty, students, and practitioners to submit individual paper and panel proposals that are particularly concerned with the problem of globalization and well-being in Latin America for the annual conference to be held March 18-19, 2011 at the University of Pittsburgh, on the theme Globalization and Well Being in Latin America. At the same time, papers dealing with other aspects of Latin American Studies are very welcome. Additionally, organizers will consider a limited number of workshop proposals on such questions as study abroad, academic publishing, and teaching methods, among others. Please submit a 250-word abstract for individual papers or complete panel proposals (250-word abstracts for each of four papers) in English, Spanish, or Portuguese to maclas2011.proposals@gmail.com by December 31, 2010. Please include a title, your name (all names of panel/workshop participants if relevant), your institution, and your role (faculty, student, other). Presentations should be 15-20 minutes in length. MACLAS offers prizes for the best undergraduate and graduate papers, as well as prizes for the best book, and article published by a member in 2009-2010.
