CfP: Globalization, Human Rights, and Migration

The Center on Rights Development at the University of Denver will be hosting its 11th Annual Symposium on Globalization, Human Rights, and Migration April 8-10, 2010. Paper proposals are invited on the theme Globalization, Human Rights & Migration as well as the following sub-topics: the Environment & Development, Economics & Finance, Conflict, Security, Health, and Human Rights Protection. Authors of chosen papers will be invited to speak at the symposium on the topic of their writing. All accepted submissions will be included in a joint publication with the Human Rights & Human Welfare Journal. Email submissions and questions to: ducord@du.edu. CfA: Summer Research Program for Undergraduates

The Department of Political Science at Oklahoma State University invites applications for the sixth annual Democracy, Interdependence and World Politics Summer Research Program for undergraduates. This program presents a valuable opportunity for undergraduate students to conduct faculty–mentored research projects. Supported by summer stipends of $4,000, research funds, travel funds, and intensive mentoring, students will formulate and carry out a research project work in one of the program’s issue areas: Foreign Policy in a Democracy; Interdependence and Foreign Policy; Democratization and Democracy Promotion; and Interdependence, Democracy and Conflict. Successful applicants will spend about 9 weeks at Oklahoma State (June – July) during the summer of 2010, where they will work with a team of faculty members and visiting scholars to develop research questions and design and complete projects. All application material is located on the Oklahoma State University Department of Political Science website. Please note that NSF rules require participants to be US citizens or permanent residents. The application deadline is February 15, 2010.

CfP: Political Economy of Liberalizing Trade in Services

The Leonard Davis Institute for International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites papers for a conference to be held 14-15 June, 2010. Paper proposals are invited on the conference theme: Political Economy of Liberalizing Trade in Services. The goal of the conference is to theoretically and empirically explore whether existing international political economy theories apply to services trade liberalization and how they might be revised.
