Change Africa and Transform Politics Conference

The International Society for Africa (SoAf) is hosting its 1st Change Africa and Transform Politics conference on January 28-29, 2010 at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC. The theme of the conference is Dissecting Change and Opportunity in the Age of Obama. For individual presentation, please send a paper abstract to events@societyforafrica.org. Corporate presentation during the two day conference will be limited to 3 individuals per organization for an hour. Registration fee to the conference is $125 and it does covers breakfast and lunch. $35 dinner per person is also being planned and additional for additional info please see the conference website.

The Center for Democracy and Civil Society at Georgetown University, in cooperation with Freedom House and the Forum for the Study of Democracy, invites paper submissions for The Graduate Student and Junior Practitioners Symposium, "Democrats, Dictators, and Demonstrators: Sharing Strategies on Repression and Reform." CfP: Fifth Annual Graduate Student Conference

The paper chairs invite papers for the University of Pittsburgh's Fifth Annual Graduate Student Conference on the European Union to be held March 20, 2010. The conference theme is: The EU Past and Present: Historical and Ongoing Discussions and Debates. Abstracts should be 250-300 words in length. Preference will be given to abstracts that clearly specify the paper’s research design, including theoretical and methodological approaches. Abstracts must be e-mailed as a Word or PDF attachment. Please also include a current C.V. with your submission. Only authors enrolled in degree-granting graduate or professional programs are eligible to participate. The King Baudouin International Development Prize

The King Baudouin Foundation invites nominations for the 2010-2011 King Baudouin International Development Prize. The King Baudouin Prize rewards the work of persons or organizations which have made a substantial contribution to the development of countries in the southern hemisphere. The 2010-2011 Prize, worth 150,000 euros, will be awarded in the spring of 2011 at the Royal Palace in Brussels. Beyond its actual financial value, the Prize procures international visibility and promotion for its winners. To nominate a candidate, please complete the electronic form on the website. Nominations must be received by February 1, 2010 and submitted by a nominator.

CfP: Race/Ethnicity: Multidisciplinary Global Contexts

The editorial staff of Race/Ethnicity: Multidisciplinary Global Contexts invites submissions no longer than 8,500 words for the first issue of its fourth volume that will focus on “Intersections of Race and Gender.” The first issue of Volume 4 explores the multiple points where race and gender intersect across the globe, the range of consequences that meets those intersections, and the dynamics that occur at those intersections. The program chairs invite proposals for the St Andrews International Political Theory Conference, to be held 1-2 July 2010 at the University of St Andrews, St Andrews, UK. The conference theme is: Thinking (With)Out Borders. This conference, sponsored by the Journal of International Political Theory, presents a major opportunity for scholars working in the interdisciplinary field of international political theory to discuss and debate issues within this burgeoning area of study today, as well as its important historical preoccupations and future challenges. CfP: Albanian Journal of Politics

The Editors of the Albanian Journal of Politics and the Guest Editor of the Summer 2010 Special Issue on the effects of EU membership conditionality on the Southeast European reforms invite manuscripts that build on this topic. We encourage a wide disciplinary, interdisciplinary and methodological approach, conceptual papers, comparative approaches, case studies, papers that tackle the topic from a domestic viewpoint (mainly comparative politics), and papers that are more international relations oriented. Scholars from the region are highly encouraged to submit, although all submissions will be considered equally on merit basis. All manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer-review process. International Swine Flu Conference
