The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation annually awards ten German Chancellor Fellowships to young professionals in the private, public, not-for-profit, cultural and academic sectors who are citizens of the United States. The program, which also includes fellowships for citizens of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, sponsors individuals who demonstrate the potential to strengthen ties between Germany and their own country through their profession or studies. Candidates from all professions and disciplines, but especially individuals in the humanities, law, social sciences and economics, are eligible to apply. Prior knowledge of German is not a prerequisite. The October 31 application deadline for 2010-2011 fellowships is approaching. Applications and additional information can be found on the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation website.
