Nuclear Online Workshop

The Military Operations Research Society (MORS) is hosting an online conference in May regarding analysis for the upcoming Nuclear Posture Review and treaty negotiations. This conference will help prepare analysts involved in the study of these issues. The objective of MORS is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of military operations research within the Department of Defense analytic community. Conference session topics include: Deterrence Strategy and Policy Session -5 May 2009; Strategic Systems Session -12 May 2009; International Perspectives Session -19 May 2009; Analysis Approaches Session -26 May 2009. CfP: CEU Political Science Journal

CEU Political Science Journal invites new submissions for its issue on "Political Philosophy". The contributions may focus on any aspects of political philosophy, emphasizing its developments, applicability and challenges faced in a changing political world. This issue also welcomes contributions that focus on the development of new research areas in political philosophy, new interdisciplinary approaches and innovative methodological techniques, as well as on possible extensions of existing boundaries of political philosophy itself. U.S. Institute of Peace Senior Fellowship Program

The Jennings Randolph (JR) Program for International Peace awards approximately 12 residential Senior Fellowships each year to allow outstanding scholars, practitioners, policymakers, journalists, and other professionals the opportunity to conduct research on peace, conflict, and international security while taking advantage of their time in Washington D.C. to make connections with other scholars and practitioners both inside and outside USIP.  These prestigious in-house fellowships normally last for ten months starting in October 2010.   Fellowships are open to citizens of any country and include a stipend of up to $100,000.  The application deadline is September 8th, 2009.  Additional information about previous Senior Fellows, USIP and the application process is available online.

CfP: Conference on the Political Economy of International Organizations

The program chairs invite submissions for the third Annual Conference on the Political Economy of International Organizations to be held in Washington, DC during January 28-30, 2010. The conference will bring together economists, political scientists and other scholars to address political-economy issues related to any international organization, including the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and the European Union, as well as other regional organizations and non-governmental organizations. The conference aims to be international in character. Previous PEIO conferences have included contributions from economists and political scientists of various national origins and from six continents. This year we hope to build on and expand this diversity. Both empirical and theoretical papers will be considered. Please submit full papers to PEIO@kof.ethz.ch. Conference: Globalisation and European Integration

Registration is now open for a conference on Globalisation European Integration that will place on the 5th and 6th of June 2009 at the University of Warwick. The conference aims to encourage interdisciplinary exchange on the historical materialist frameworks used to investigate the relationship between global governance, regional integration and the national state, with special reference to the European Union. We have therefore invited specialists from the fields of politics, international relations, international political economy and sociology to share their research findings and experience by introducing workshops with working papers designed to stimulate dialogue with other participants. The deadline for registration is: 15 May 2009.

CfP: Journal of International and Area Studies

The Journal of International and Area Studies is a scholarly journal promoting interdisciplinary discourses on international and Asian affairs. The journal is issued biannually by the Institute of International Affairs at the Graduate School of International Studies of Seoul National University in Korea. With the support of Korea Research Foundation, the JIAS intends to contribute towards the development of Korean Studies by donating its complimentary issue for the scholars and institutions of Korean and Asian Studies abroad. We hope that this special issue of JIAS will make the best use of material for scholars who are interested in the field of Korean Studies. The annual conference of Millennium Journal of International Studies will take place on the 17-18 October 2009 at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Human Rights Section Best Paper Awards

The Human Rights Section of the International Studies Association is pleased to invite nominations for two awards for papers delivered at the 2009 conference in New York. If you were in attendance at a panel, or chaired or acted as a discussant for a panel, and heard a paper you wish to nominate, please do so through the contacts below. Self-nominations are also invited. Papers must have been presented on a panel which was sponsored or co-sponsored by the Human Rights section, as indicated in the program, and must be posted to the New York convention paper archive. There are two categories of award: the Stephen C. Poe best graduate student paper award, and the best faculty/practitioner paper award. Please direct nominations to the following: Sylvia Maier (sylvia.maier@nyu.edu) for the Stephen C Poe best graduate student paper award; and, Amy Ross (rossamy@uga.edu) for the best faculty/practitioner paper award. IPEG Book Prize 2009 - Nominations

The British International Studies Associations sends a reminder to submit nominations for the 2009 IPEG Book Prize. The deadline for the close of long-list nominations is 1 May 2009. IPEG members are able to nominate one book for the long-list from 2008 whilst self-nominations and edited books are ineligible. After the long-list deadline, IPEG members will then be contacted to rank their top three choices in order of preference for the short-list. More information may be found on the BISA blog. BISA is one of ISA's Cooperating Organizations.
