The late Prof. Samuel Huntington (Harvard) has been awarded the 2009 ISSS Distinguished Scholar Award by the International Security Studies Section of ISA. The section deeply regrets the recent death of Professor Huntington. The section is convening a roundtable to celebrate his work at the ISA Annual Convention in New York.The rountable will convene on Feb. 17th, from 4:15 PM - 6 PM. in the Broadway South room of the Marriott Marquis and is open to registered convention participants.
According to Wikipedia: Samuel Phillips Huntington (April 18, 1927–December 24, 2008) was an American political scientist who gained prominence through his Clash of Civilizations (1993, 1996) thesis of a post-Cold War new world order. Previously, his academic reputation had rested on his analysis of the relationship between the military and the civil government, his investigation of coups d'état, and his analysis of threats posed to the U.S. by contemporary immigration.
