Washington University in St. Louis seeks candidates for post-doctoral fellowship in the social sciences for a China specialist to begin in the fall of 2009. The fellowship is supported by a generous grant from the Freeman Foundation. The successful candidate would be expected to teach three courses per academic year, two at the lower level and one at an advanced level. Possible areas would include medical anthropology, regional or local public health, global public health, health policy, or some combination of these concerns. Democracy and World Politics Summer Research Program

The Department of Political Science at Oklahoma State University will host the fifth annual Democracy and World Politics Summer Research Program for undergraduates. This program presents a valuable opportunity for undergraduate students to conduct faculty-mentored research projects. Supported by summer stipends, research funds, travel funds, and intensive mentoring, students will formulate and carry out a research project work in one of three self-selected issue areas: a) Foreign Policy in a Democracy; b) Democratization and Democracy Promotion; c) Democracy and Conflict. Successful applicants will spend about 9 weeks at Oklahoma State (June - July) during the summer of 2009, where they will work with a team of faculty members and visiting scholars to develop research questions and design and complete projects within their issue-areas. All application material is located on the Oklahoma State University Department of Political Science website. The application deadline is March 1, 2009.

Hawaii International Conference on Social Sciences

The 8th Annual Hawaii International Conference on Social Sciences will be held from June 4 (Thursday) to June 7  (Sunday), 2009 at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in Honolulu, Hawaii.  The conference will provide many opportunities for academicians and professionals from social sciences related fields to interact with members inside  and outside their own particular disciplines.
