An international essay competition and workshop is announced by the Irmgard Coninx Foundation, the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB), and the Humboldt-University Berlin at the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the WZB. Submissions on the theme Urban Governance: Innovation, Insecurity and the Power of Religion are invited. 50 successful applicants to the essay competition will be invited to discuss their research with prominent scholars at some of Europe’s leading research institutions. The workshop will take place at the Social Science Research Center Berlin on 18 – 23 March 2009. The Irmgard Coninx Foundation will cover travel and accommodation costs.
