The deadline for the 2009 AAAS Award for Public Understanding of Science & Technology is August 15, 2008. The Award recognizes scientists and engineers who make outstanding contributions to the "popularization of science." Eligible individuals include scientists and engineers (individual or a small group) from all disciplines (including social sciences and medicine) engaged in research, teaching, and related activities that have contributed substantially to the public's understanding of science or technology. Only materials produced for general audiences, as opposed to professional or trade audiences, will be considered. Past recipients have included Neil deGrasse Tyson, James Gates and Jane Lubchenco.
